Swimming Pool

Right after Brent and I got married, a lady that we know gave us an above ground swimming pool. Every year since then we have had one struggle or another with this pool. For several years, we had to keep putting it up again because we just couldn't get it right. Then one year I couldn't get the chemicals to clear up the water. Last summer was about the best experience we have had with the pool. I think it is partly because we found a local pool man instead of having to take water samples to the pool place in Salisbury. Everytime I made that trip they would load me up with no less than $100 of chemicals and then they usually wouldn't even do to trick!

It is always worth the effort that we go through to open the pool (I think!) but every year it is something. This year we thought we would have no problem because we got a new cover last year...however, over the winter all but about 8" of the water leaked out of the pool so we have to start over after all! We still haven't found the leak...so once we get the water in the pool I am going to have to get some stuff that you put in the water that is supposed to seal the leak.

Tonight Brent had a friend bring the fire truck over to help us fill up the pool. This is an annual part of the process as well. It takes about 5 loads or more of water because the pool holds 10000 gallons of water. This starts another stressful part of the process because the water from the hydrant is DIRTY so then we have to get the water CLEAN before we can ever swim in it.

I love having the pool though. Brent has to do a lot of work to get the pool opened up and ready to swim in. We appreciate it very much! It is GREAT fun for the boys and I. Most evenings in the summer you can find us playing in the pool either before or after we eat supper. The boys sleep well during the summer too because they wear themselves out swimming! We have definitely gotten the use out of this pool! It has been a blessing to us...we have enjoyed it very much and are looking forward to swimming in it again this summer!
