Risks and Benefits
When I talked to my oral surgeon about extracting my wisdom teeth she mentioned that my bottom left tooth was lying on a nerve and that there was a risk of losing feeling in my tongue and lip due to that. I accepted that risk and had the surgery...now 2 days later, I am remembering that conversation and wondering why I didn't take that comment a little more seriously. I am not in a lot of pain considering the work that was done in my mouth on Friday, but I have NO feeling in the left side of my tongue or mouth. I called my doctor today and she said "don't worry about it...we will check it out next week when you come back in to get checked." That's easy for her to say...she's not the one without any feeling in one side of her mouth!! Now, I'm just trying to remember if this was a long-term temporary thing that she mentioned or if it was a PERMANENT condition. If this is PERMANENT, then it will be a life altering thing. Oh dear...the messes I get myself into...
