Daily Bible Reading - Favorite Verses

This year I am attempting to read the entire Bible by using The Daily Bible arranged by F. LaGard Smith. This bible is really neat because it is arranged in chronological order and has a reading for each day of the year plus commentary. I was given this book by my church several years ago and have never lasted very far into the year, but this year I am convinced to make it through. Today I am going to list what some of my favorite passages have been so far this year:

Genesis 32: 10 I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant.

Genesis 45: 24 Then he (Joseph) sent his brothers away, and as they were leaving he said to them, "Don't quarrel on the way!" (I like this because it shows me how much we are the same as the people in the Bible...we think that they were different than us, but really they were humans, just like us!)

Exodus 4:11 The Lord said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." (I think we should think of this verse when we are afraid to speak about God)

Exodus 15 (various verses): He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. Your right hand, O Lord, was majestic in power. Your right hand, O Lord, shattered the enemy. Who among the gods is like you, O Lord? Who is like you - majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.

Deut 4:9 "...do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them."

Deut 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deut 6:6-9 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Deut 7:20 Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God.

Deu 8: 10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. (So many times we pray before we eat, but I often wonder if we are really sincere about what we are praying. God has given us so much to be thankful for and we take so much of it for granted. This is a great reminder for us to thank Him for what He has given us.)

Deut 8: 17,18 You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth...

Deut 30:19 Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.

It is amazing to me how many verses that I found drawn to in Deuteronomy...I never realized how many wonderful verses are in that book. I am really enjoying, and being blessed by, my daily Bible readings and I hope that I will stick to it and see it through to the end. I will share other verses here as I come across them so that maybe you will be inspired by them as well.

You are definitely an encouragement to me! I have tried to get through one of the daily Bibles before, but I always seem to get off track after a few months. Maybe I'll reread Deuteronomy...
