We did it! and Day 1 House Construction

We are now much more in debt with nothing to show for it currently! We signed our loan yesterday morning and we are now clear to begin building. I will post pictures as we make progress. This will help me to have the memories down on "paper". I'm not sure if I should count down to the house completion or count up to the house completion. I realize this isn't very important but I'm sitting here trying to decide. Our ULTIMATE goal would be to get the house built in 6 months and we have friends that have done this, so we know that it's possible. If I start counting from yesterday since that is when we actually moved the first bit of dirt, then that means that I could call today day 2 and count forward. OR, I could call it day 185 and count down to Nov 20th which would be 6 months from yesterday. These are the kind of things that my mind is cluttered with!!! So, just this moment I've decided that I will count forward on my posts but I will put up a ticker to count down towards the ULTIMATE 6 month goal.

(For all of you reading this who are thinking that I shouldn't get my hopes up, I will put this caveat in: I realize that we might not be done in 6 months and that is OKAY. I'm just saying this would be IDEAL for us. Technically, our current loan will not change for FIVE YEARS so there's no pressure there. HOWEVER, (Brent, are you reading this?) it does not mean that we will take FIVE YEARS to build the house. 8 months would be Jan 20th and 10 months would be March 20th so I feel confident that we will likely be in by the end of March.)

So, here are some pictures that I took yesterday of what the land looked like before we really did anything to it:

The post where my shadow is will be the back corner of our house and the back corner of the master bedroom. Here you can see where Energy United has already been out and moved the electricity lines.
This is where Brent's favorite shade tree was. Joe and Brent cut it down with the "tree saw" yesterday. Elijah told me about it when I got home from work. The post there will be the corner of the garage which is on the side of the house. You can see why the tree had to go!

This is when Adam and Brent were starting to smooth out where the garden has been for over 10 years.

This will be looking at the back of the house.

Here are a couple of pictures from the current front porch. This is after Brent and Adam and Bill smoothed out the land last night. If you put the 2 pictures together you could see the total side of the house that we will see as building progresses.
