Some progress...

The dumpster was delivered. The mortar, sand, and some block were delivered. A skid steer arrived - much to Elijah's delight.

Then, finally, on Tuesday it was dry enough for the basement to be started.

This is the front right corner of the house. This rounded part will be the eating area and the kitchen will be behind it.

Nolan enjoyed the scaffolding!

Just so you know...

No further progress on the house has been made. The rain kind of slowed things down. However, hopefully the basement will be blocked by the end of this week. Maybe it will even have a concrete floor by the end of the week. Hopefully the framing will start next week. Additionally, in case you are interested, getting as much rain as we did last week right after the footings were poured brought it's own challenges. We spent a good portion of the weekend shoveling dirt to uncover the footings! Great memories...

Love Inspired books

I've been reading my friend Mindy's blog ever since I found it and she occasionally talks about these books called Love Inspired. I went to a yard sale several weeks ago and purchased a few. I've read them and I'm hooked. She's right...they are easy quick reads that are nice to throw in between reading some other books. Anyhow, imagine my surprise when I found more at another yard sale this weekend! And then, more at another yard sale. Now I have a stack of them in my bedroom. They are going to be perfect in a couple weeks when we are at the beach. I'm so glad that Mindy helped me "discover" these.

Nolan's intellect

Mom, I can't go outside today.

Why not?

Because it's code orange and I have asthma, remember?

Follow the burgundy brick road...

This is the brick that we are going to be using. It is Oxford from Triangle Brick. It is a very rich burgundy colored brick and this picture doesn't truly show the burgundy color.

Front Door

This is the interior door that we have chosen. We haven't chosen the stain though so they may not be this color. Our front door will look like this as well.

The boys are dying to get in the concrete -

Mom, we can jump over it. I PROMISE we won't land in the concrete...

Let's see just how close to the edge I can get...

I'm just going to sit here and watch it dry...

Please Mom. It really looks like it's dry.

Look what I found!

Let's find a place where it's dry.

I'm sure that Dad and Mom don't know what they are talking about.

Well, let's jut throw dirt clods into it since we can't walk in there.
