Recent moments with the boys...

NOLAN

Mom, now I just have to figure out...which came first the Bible characters or the dinosaurs.

I picked out this book (at the library). He hands it to me - it's titled Evolution Revolution, From Darwin to DNA. (YIKES! - I'm thinking. Okay, I say, because I'm sure that not allowing him to check it out isn't the right answer. I add, "Your dad and I will look at that book with you."

We've at least already chatted once about how some people don't believe that God created the earth.

ELIJAH

_______, why do you have a bubble in your belly? (We haven't figured this one out yet.)

Mom, for Christmas, I want a guitar of my very own. (This is notable because Nolan has a small guitar that Michael gave him when he was 3 years old and Nolan doesn't like it when Elijah tries to play with it.)

When looking at pictures of when his daddy was born: Mommy, did Papaw Joe come over to spend the night with Daddy and Nana? (Oh boy, I have such a hard time explaining our disjointed family to the boys.)

The main subject of Elijah's conversations: Caroline Dill. Elijah loves that girl! Her mother (Ms Amber) and I are convinced they might get married because she loves him just as much. Everywhere we go and everything we do we hear about Caroline. She is "his mommy" and he is the daddy. They have a baby who is basically his imaginary friend. For a long time we thought he wanted a baby sister but eventually I figured out that this is their CHILD!! She has no name though. He didn't bring her to the beach - she stayed at Grandma's house. Grandma was with us though but he didn't seemed concerned that his baby was alone. One day he said she died. Don't worry she's back to life now. So here is a sampling of what we hear about Caroline:

That house over there is the house me and Caroline are going to stay in when we come to the beach. We will take your camper when we go to Boone though. Is that okay mom?

Me and Caroline are going to come to this gas station.

Me and Caroline are going to shop for groceries here.

Me and Caroline are going to swim in this pool too okay mom?

When I get my monster truck, I'm going to take Caroline riding in it.

When looking at the guest bedroom in the new house: this is Caroline's room. This is Caroline's bathroom.

So you see there's no question in my mind that little boys are just WIRED to like little girls!!! Ms Amber took a picture of Elijah and Caroline taking a nap side by side at day care. When I get it I will have to post it. Too cute!!
