So, Nolan took his "girlfriend" to church on Sunday for the Spring Fling. He wants to know why he can't have girls over for sleepovers. He can spell almost any word that I can think of and uses them all in sentences. His vocabulary is about as big as mine. He thinks that he might be getting his wisdom teeth in like me and is wondering if this will make him say smart things.
Elijah is saying things like "Need gas today, mama?...No gas today." and "Need cake...I'm HUNGRY" and "Need to watch Tunes(Looney Tunes) for 2 minutes (as he holds up his 2 fingers)."
Tonight I was thinking about how much I will miss it when they aren't "little" anymore. I just want to keep them the way they are because I love them so much. Elijah still has that soft skin and baby smell that I love. He gives me hugs when he thinks something is wrong with me. Nolan is so sweet when he tells me that he loves me and that I am the best mommy in the whole world. I've never thought about how much mothers must miss these early days in their children's lives, but I'm sure that they do. Or maybe I'm the only one that dwells on how we can't stop time from ticking.
There's a Trace Adkins song that I love, "You're Gonna Miss This". Here are the words:
She was staring out the window of that SUV
Complaning, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down"
Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
She keeps apologizin'He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but ...
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this"
