I know...you want to see some pictures.

I've been a slacker lately (see previous post). Not only have I not posted much lately, I haven't done a very good job of capturing history on my camera either. We are still painting...this would be day 11 of the painting. We are getting down to the 2nd coats on most things and we have already painted some of the trim. I will take some pictures this evening to post. I should say that we are not really ENJOYING the painting. It is a large project to tackle for a couple of people who haven't really painted anything in their lives, but we are learning as we go. Thank goodness there are people out there who enjoy to paint and/or are willing to come help us. Without all the help that we've gotten, it probably would have taken us 2 months to get it all done! So far I'm happy with all the colors that I've chosen. The only color that I haven't seen yet is the bonus room but it's a nice girly color so I'm excited about seeing it on the wall. I hope it's really going to complement my antique furniture and other items. There is still one room that is not painted other than the primer and that's because we are going to wait until later to choose the color for this room. Nolan and Elijah are both happy with the blues that we chose for their rooms. I can't say which is my favorite...I like them all - the living room, the dining room, the master bedroom, the boys' rooms, the bathrooms, the kitchen....good thing I don't HAVE to pick a favorite. Can't wait to see what you think of the colors...

Fearless by Max Lucado

I just finished reading a preview copy of Max Lucado's newest book - Fearless - which hits shelves today. This book is very timely in that right now so many people are experiencing fear due to layoffs, the economy, etc. The book, with 15 chapters, tackles many types of fears that we, as humans, have at different times in our lives and gives the reader reasons to trust instead of fear. If you have have, or have ever had, any of these thoughts -


"I don't matter"

"God can't forgive me anymore"

"There's not enough _____"

"I don't know how to take care of my child"

"I can't handle this..."

"If ________ happens"

"I don't know what I'll do"

"Something violent/painful might happen"

"what if we run out of time/money/____"

"what will happen when I die"

"I'm afraid of what's next in my life"

"what if God isn't real"


- then you will be able to find something for you in this book. Lucado gives the reader hope and teaches us how to live without fear.


I have read and learned a lot over the years from books by Max Lucado and this one is no different. I love how each of the chapters are named so that you could refer back to whatever section that you need at that time. Each chapters lists Bible verses that correspond with the point being made or examples being given. It is a great resource for finding verses to meditate upon in whichever "time of fear" you are in. Due to the timeliness of this book I can think of so many people who I would like to recommend this book. However, this is one of those books that every reader will be able to relate to and find something to benefit themselves. This book has made me want to go back and re-read some of Lucado's previous books.

Something besides the house...

Elijah is a great helper with all kinds of tasks. He loves to help Grandma empty the communion cups after church when it is her month to do this.

What a cutie! I have to tell this on myself- the other night when we were going to bed I was irritated because there was stuff all in the floor in the boys' bedroom. Elijah turns around and says to me from the bunk bed ladder, "Mommy, do YOU have an ATTITUDE?"

Mom and I took the boys last weekend to the Children's Spectacular which was a free event put on by the Children's Evangelism Fellowship (I think that's what they were called). It was a little too crowded for all of us but the boys did like going in this pirate ship slide.

I love to see them doing things together.

Okay. So it took me a little longer than I thought it would to post these pictures. I'm sorry. I know you've just been sitting by your computer with it on my blog or facebook page refreshing it every few minutes waiting to see these pictures. I'm so sorry. Well, here they are finally. It seems like this week things have come along nicely. Now, this weekend we will be picking up trash, moving dirt, etc. We also have to go pick out some things. I did go and purchase all the paint for the house so that was exciting. Things are moving along nicely and unless something unforeseen happens we should be right on schedule for the duration. The back patio area complete with arches to match the rest of the house. This is going to be an awesome place to relax!

The bricks for the front of the house finally arrived and the brick masons finished up late Thursday afternoon. Here you can see the eaves have been done along the front of the house also. It has really added a lot to the look of the house.

Suspense...

This is the teaser post to say that I am going to post more pictures this evening but I just don't have time to do it this morning! I have pictures of the hung sheetrock, the eaves around the outside of the house, the ceiling of the front porch, the back deck columns, and maybe some more, but I just have to put getting to work on time as more important as posting these! Can you believe that? We will be putting backerboard down this weekend in preparation for the tile. The cabinets and countertops are on order. We will be going to pick out light fixtures, faucets, toilets, etc this weekend. We are moving right along!!! I'm beginning to think we might be in within 6 months after all!! I'm SO excited!
